We are a wood working school within a contemporary furniture designing and a bespoke cabinet maker workshop. The one year fee paying course can be designed to fit your needs and requirements. This is not a standard college course. This is a small workshop training committed people in how to earn their livings as cabinetmakers and furniture designers   

We make unique furniture for the private and the corporate client and offer a personal design and making service. The wood working school I run here is not really a school but more of an "Atalier", which is a french concept of a workshop or studio lead by a mastercraftsman or artist with a number of skilled makers and students all learning at different levels. Hopefully we learn together and from one another. Making furniture with skill is the objective, but making beautiful furniture is a more challenging goal that is always before us. I have been making and designing for nearly thirty years and I still find it exciting and stimulating and challenging so you should not expect an easy journey. I expect commitment and a dedication to excellence that frankly I rarely find. If you think you are good enough, that's a great start. The furniture we make here is exceptional. You can also make for your own clients under my supervision whilst doing the course. In this way your client gets a less expensive piece of furniture, and you get to learn the professional process of dealing with a real client. You also earn some money to help cover your fees.

At the heart of the course are classic woodworking skills, learnt by doing and by observing more skilled makers around you. But also there is the issue of design. I cannot teach a frog to fly and without some talent it would hopeless for you to attempt to become a furniture designer. Indeed a year is too short a time to do this. What I can do is show you how I work with my clients. If you have a talent, even a latent talent, we can begin to get it working for you . If you are a skilled designer or design school graduate needing to learn about wood and furniture we can develop a course to suit your needs.

This is the essence. This woodworking school does not have a set program of modules that it compels the student to do. We start with you and build a course around your needs and requirements. Need a job at the end of the year? O K we do this. Need to set up a workshop?  OK. Need to build your portfolio of new designs and exhibit? O K.
